Argyle Texas was first developed in in 1881 by James Morrill. The Texas and Pacific built its rail road through the land. James Morrill was given the permission to maintain a depot, switches and side trackes. In the mid 1930's the cities electicity was only available from 8pm to 5pm. Argyle voted to incorporate on September 19, 1960, and did so in 1962. M. H. Wilson was elected the first mayor.
